The blue lotus flower that is infused in Moselle products is a widely revered purplish blue water lily (nymphaea caerulea). Its essential oil is considered one of the most rare, precious botanical extracts on earth. It takes 1 lb of blue lotus flowers to make 1 ml of oil.

The blue lotus has a long and varied history. It was frequently depicted in the art of ancient Egypt and appears in Buddhist and Hindu symbolism as well. It represents the flowering of the crown chakra…emerging from the dark mud of the earth and opening its petals to the rays of sun each day.

Many western historians thought it was a purely symbolic flower, but across the globe it has a wide use as a general wellness remedy and is widely used in skin care products in the East. Similar to other plants like ashwaganda, it is said that blue lotus has adaptogenic properties which are useful for a diverse range of ailments.
